Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how GamblerSay (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information about individuals who access or use gamblersay.ca (the “Site”) and any related services we provide (the “Services”). GamblerSay is a user-generated content (UGC) platform. Our mission is to surface honest, community-driven feedback about online casinos for the benefit of Canadian gamblers. We collect only the data necessary to operate that mission.

When you use the Services, you may voluntarily provide:

  • Account registration details, such as a username or email address. You are not required to use your legal name.
  • Review content, star ratings, and any supplementary commentary you choose to submit.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

Platform Operation and Moderation

To publish, verify, and moderate user-generated reviews in accordance with our Moderation Policy. This includes using automated systems to tag and summarise submitted content, and human moderation to detect inauthentic, duplicate, or policy-violating posts. IP addresses and account metadata are used to identify coordinated manipulation attempts.

User Authentication and Account Management

To create and maintain user accounts, authenticate login sessions, and enable account-related functionality, such as editing or updating previously submitted content.

Communications

To respond to support inquiries, send transactional messages related to your account or submissions (such as moderation decisions), and, where you have opted in, to send platform updates or relevant announcements. You may opt out of non-transactional communications at any time.

Platform Integrity and Security

To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent submissions, spam, bot activity, and other misuse of the Services. Protecting the authenticity of community-generated ratings is central to our operating model.

Analytics and Product Improvement

To understand how users interact with the Site, identify usability issues, and improve the platform’s features and performance. Where possible, analytics data is aggregated or anonymised before review.

Legal Compliance

To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and lawful requests from governmental or regulatory authorities, and to enforce our Terms of Use and Moderation Policy.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

We process personal information on the following legal bases, as applicable under Canadian privacy legislation, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, provincial privacy statutes:

We may also disclose information where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of GamblerSay, our users, or the public, or to enforce our Terms of Use.

4.4 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected users of any such change and any resulting changes to this Privacy Policy.

4.5 Publicly Submitted Content

Reviews, ratings, and comments you submit are published on the Site and are visible to the public by default. This includes any username or display name associated with your account. Do not include personally identifiable information in your review text if you do not wish it to be publicly visible. Our platform includes an automatic detection feature that flags and redacts sensitive personal data inadvertently included in review text or uploaded screenshots.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate core site functionality, remember user preferences, and collect analytics data. The categories of cookies we use include:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the Site to function correctly, including session management and security features. These cannot be disabled without impairing your use of the Services.

6. Data Retention

  • Account information is retained for the duration of your account’s existence. If you request account deletion, we will remove or anonymise your personal details within 30 days, subject to any legal obligation to retain records.
  • Published reviews are community records. Deleting your account does not automatically remove your published content, which may be retained in anonymised form to preserve the integrity of the community record. You may contact us to request the removal of specific content.
  • Server logs and moderation records are retained for up to 12 months for security and fraud investigation purposes, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Support correspondence is retained for up to 24 months or as required by applicable legal obligations.

7. Security of Your Information

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit, access controls, and regular review of our security practices.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that poses a real risk of significant harm to individuals, we will notify affected users and, where required, relevant regulatory authorities within the timeframes prescribed by applicable law.

The Services are not directed at individuals under the age of 18 (or the applicable legal gambling age in your province of residence, whichever is higher).
